St. Patrick's Westport GAA (Naomh Pádraig CLG) is the largest sports club in Westport and one of the fastest-growing GAA clubs in Connacht: football, hurling, camogie and ladies football, from nursery to senior.

Why it matters
The club has outgrown its home
- 58 teams share two grass pitches on the Newport Road. Fitting in each week's training sessions and matches is a logistical squeeze.
- Neither pitch has floodlights, so teams lose most winter evenings for training.
- The clubhouse is small and no longer fit for purpose.
- Parking is tight, and the narrow approach roads make access unsafe with children on site.
The plan
Kenny Park, Golf Course Road
In 2019 the club set up a project team to find room to grow. The team searched the Westport hinterland and bought a seven-acre site on the Golf Course Road in 2020. Mayo County Council granted full planning permission in May 2021, and construction started that September.
The new grounds honour the Jack Kenny family. Jack Kenny was the first Westport man to play senior football for Mayo, in 1929.

The pitch
A Croke Park-sized grass pitch with 500-lux floodlighting (hurling and camogie standard), a warm-up area and perimeter fencing.
Phase 2 · Under way
The clubhouse
A two-storey eco-friendly clubhouse: four changing rooms on the ground floor, with a gym, offices, kitchen and meeting rooms above. The budget is about €2.2 million.
Phase 3 · To finish
Stand & grounds
A 500-seat spectator stand, car parking with lighting and EV charging, and the perimeter community exercise and cycle track.
