What cookies are
A cookie is a small piece of data a website stores in your browser so it can recognise your device between pages and visits. We also use a small amount of similar browser storage. This policy lists what we set and why. It should be read alongside our Privacy notice at winahouseinwestport.com/privacy. Questions? Email info@winahouseinwestport.com.
How we ask for your consent
On your first visit a consent banner offers three categories — Necessary, Analytics and Marketing — with equally prominent options to accept or reject. Nothing in the Analytics or Marketing categories runs until you say yes.
Your choice is stored in a first-party cookie (cookie_consent) for 12 months. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. If we materially change how we use cookies, the banner will ask you to choose again.
Necessary — always on
These are required for the site and checkout to function, and can't be switched off:
cookie_consent — set by us; remembers your consent choices for 12 months.
Stripe (__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid) — set during checkout by our payment provider for secure payment processing and fraud prevention.
Cloudflare Turnstile — a privacy-friendly bot check on the checkout, which may set a short-lived token to confirm you're human.
Analytics — only with your consent
These help us understand how the site is used, so we can improve it:
PostHog (ph_* cookies) — our product analytics, hosted in the EU. Until you grant Analytics consent, PostHog runs in a cookieless, anonymous mode that stores nothing on your device and builds no profile; granting consent enables its cookies so your visits can be counted accurately.
Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*) — visitor and traffic measurement. Before consent, GA4 receives only cookieless, aggregated signals under Google Consent Mode; its cookies are set only after you grant Analytics consent.
Marketing — only with your consent
These let us measure and improve our advertising:
Meta Pixel (_fbp) — set only if you grant Marketing consent; helps us measure ads we run on Facebook and Instagram. Without consent the pixel fires nothing.
Google ad signals — advertising features in Google's tags remain disabled unless you grant Marketing consent (via Google Consent Mode v2).
Managing cookies in your browser
Beyond our banner, you can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings — see your browser's help pages. Blocking necessary cookies may stop the checkout from working. To opt out of Google Analytics across all websites, you can also install Google's opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the cookies we use or in data-protection law. The current version is always published on this page, and material changes will re-trigger the consent banner.
